“Mexico” is all you need to understand

From January to March of 2025, we had an amazing series of Connect with Mexico Conversations at Puerto Vallarta’s International Friendship Club (IFC). We touched on hot issues concerning Mexico and we provided expats with new perspectives on how Mexicans view those developments.

We discussed President Claudia Sheinbaum, the incoming judicial reform, the challenging topics of migration and relations with the United States, and we concluded by diving into Mexico’s immense biodiversity.

I want to thank the many expats who were there raising their hands to share their ideas and to ask questions; you really made this happen. The IFC staff and volunteers were, as always, professional and amazingly helpful and gracious.

I chose to close the series by sharing a video about my country with those in attendance. It’s an “extended” upbeat musical rendition of a song by famous Mexican singer Juan Gabriel titled “Mexico is Everything.”

Now, I’d like to share it with you. I'm certain you will enjoy its inherent love for Mexico as much as I do and just as much as the audience did last month. The song is in Spanish, of course, but do know that all you really need to understand is the word “Mexico.” All the rest is bringing up the volume, opening your eyes and feeling, savoring, and even dancing.
